Naynee: Mary Jane Johnson was born to sharecropper parents in 1904 around Oakfield, Georgia and quit school after third grade to help on the farm. Soon after, she began to exhibiting signs of having healing hands. It was at that point her grandmother took her under her wing to teach young Naynee how to use them. And use them, she did. In 1973 she was one of 50 registered granny midwives in the State of Florida and by 1982 she was one of the last. Our grandma Naynee was without a doubt the most respected woman in her Central Florida community.
